1 Poultry was developed by Lord Peter Palumbo and Advanta plc.
Planning for the building began nearly 50 years ago. Originally, it was to be a high-rise office building designed by architect Mies van der Rohe, but after a long and controversial planning process the city of London ultimately selected a design by James Stirling. A wide variety of archeological objects are still visible in the building’s basement. With its distinctive architecture and prominent rooftop garden, 1 Poultry is a landmark as well as a masterpiece of postmodern architecture. Prior to the founding of HP Developments, members of its current staff were responsible for the project’s development and management.
