Built in 1705, the Taschenbergpalais in Dresden is an example of baroque architecture, a historical landmark and an important cultural monument for the city of Dresden. From 1992 to 1995, it was rebuilt under the direction of Ronald Hetzke in line with strict monument protection laws and ensuring preservation of the historical substance. Under the management of hp developments, extensive damage was repaired from 2002 to 2003 following the Elbe flood of 2002.
The core refurbishment of the guest rooms and the entire lobby on the first floor is a great success. The historical heritage of the building has been preserved and shines in new splendour. The modern amenities and luxurious furnishings of the 211 hotel rooms, signature suites and the magnificent Royal Suite meet the high expectations of guests.
The implementation of modern, energy-efficient systems has significantly improved the environmental friendliness of the building. The technical modernisation included the renewal of the electrical infrastructure and IT systems. Sewage and drinking water pipes as well as ventilation systems were renewed.
Some of the work was carried out while the hotel was in operation.
The recent renovation of the Taschenbergpalais represents another major investment in the cultural heritage and tourist appeal of the city of Dresden. Thanks to the successful combination of historical restoration and modern facilities, the building has been preserved both as a cultural monument and as a first-class luxury hotel. The renovation not only secures the future of the building, but also contributes to the cultural and economic vitality of Dresden.
